Tony Stutterheim - Founder and CEO

Formerly the President of Rainbow Studios Animation Division, Tony has more than 20 years of experience working in production and post production. His prior roles and credits include General Manager and Vice President of Steven Spielberg's Amblin Imaging, an honor from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for Visual Effects, more than a hundred hours of animated and live action production and numerous directing and editing credits.

Tony graduated with a B.A. from Fort Hays State University, majoring in Television and Film with a minor in computer programming. Upon graduating, Tony spent 3 years as a photographer and editor for a CBS news affiliate. In 1991 he joined video and computer graphics pioneer Newtek as head of the video and computer generated animation department. He joined NewTek shortly before they released the revolutionary Video Toaster – the first truly non-linear desktop video production system.

While at Newtek, Tony directed several productions including an ADDY award winning promotional video titled “REVOLUTION.” He was also editor and technical director for several videos produced by the magic duo Penn and Teller.

In 1993 he was chosen to be the lead CGI artist at Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Imaging, located on the Universal Studios lot. His primary function was leading the animation team for the NBC sci-fi drama “SeaQuest.” Tony was later promoted to the position of Vice President and General Manager of Amblin Imaging.

As GM, Tony was responsible for directing CG animation for multiple TV shows, commercials and various special projects for Steven Spielberg.

In 1996 Tony left Amblin Imaging with colleague Bruce Hall to form their own company, TRG3, where they developed the concept for and spearheaded the animation production of the game "Deadly Tide" for Microsoft.

TRG3 merged with Rainbow Studios in 1997. Shortly after joining Rainbow ,Tony became the President of its animation division. For the next five years Tony oversaw, directed and edited many hundreds of hours of production work that has been seen around the globe for companies including Hasbro, Microsoft, Playmates Toys, and Sony Family Entertainment.

Tony is also the author of two commercial software applications: Wavemaker and Scene Machine. These packages were popular tools for creating motion graphics and flying logos and were eventually acquired by a major provider of video and animation tools for incorporation into a popular 3D animation package.

Tony continues to lead the team at 12 Inch Design and in the last few years has also enjoyed being involved in making mobile games and apps with 2XL Games, Inc. in Phoenix Arizona.
