Tony Stutterheim - Founder and CEO
Formerly the President of Rainbow Studios Animation Division, Tony has
more than 20 years of experience working in production and post
production. His prior roles and credits include General Manager and Vice
President of Steven Spielberg's Amblin Imaging, an honor from the
Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for Visual Effects, more than a
hundred hours of animated and live action production and numerous
directing and editing credits.
Tony graduated with a B.A. from Fort Hays State University, majoring in
Television and Film with a minor in computer programming. Upon
graduating, Tony spent 3 years as a photographer and editor for a CBS
news affiliate. In 1991 he joined video and computer graphics pioneer
Newtek as head of the video and computer generated animation department.
He joined NewTek shortly before they released the revolutionary Video
Toaster – the first truly non-linear desktop video production system.
While at Newtek, Tony directed several productions including an ADDY
award winning promotional video titled “REVOLUTION.” He was also editor
and technical director for several videos produced by the magic duo Penn
In 1993 he was chosen to be the lead CGI artist at Steven Spielberg’s
Amblin Imaging, located on the Universal Studios lot. His primary
function was leading the animation team for the NBC sci-fi drama
“SeaQuest.” Tony was later promoted to the position of Vice President
and General Manager of Amblin Imaging.
As GM, Tony was responsible for directing CG animation for multiple TV
shows, commercials and various special projects for Steven Spielberg.
In 1996 Tony left Amblin Imaging with colleague Bruce Hall to form their
own company, TRG3, where they developed the concept for and spearheaded
the animation production of the game "Deadly Tide" for Microsoft.
TRG3 merged with Rainbow Studios in 1997. Shortly after joining Rainbow
,Tony became the President of its animation division. For the next five
years Tony oversaw, directed and edited many hundreds of hours of
production work that has been seen around the globe for companies
including Hasbro, Microsoft, Playmates Toys, and Sony Family
Tony is also the author of two commercial software applications:
Wavemaker and Scene Machine. These packages were popular tools for
creating motion graphics and flying logos and were eventually acquired
by a major provider of video and animation tools for incorporation into
a popular 3D animation package.
Tony continues to lead the team at 12 Inch Design and in
the last few years has also enjoyed being involved in making mobile games
and apps with 2XL Games, Inc. in Phoenix Arizona.
